So you have decided to start a home based business, your excited! You want to be successful and you just cant wait to get started! Picking a home based business can be quite the challenge though. If you do a search on “picking a home based business”, your search would return more than 30,000,000 results. So where do you start? I have been in Network Marketing for more than 10 years now but, up until a year ago I really wasn’t sure what to look for myself. I had success with a service company and yet I failed. Now I wasn’t sure why at first but I discovered It was the business model, the business model drives the business! You needed to be a rock star at recruiting! I ended up in the health and wellness industry! Well, I should have done a little more research! Although it is an industry growing with baby boomer’s wanting to stay healthy, it’s also one of the first places people turn to when picking a home based business! Can you say Competition! A search on “health and wellness opportunities” will bring you about 52,000,000 results.

What To Look For When Picking A Home Based Business

I have read many articles on the matter of picking a home based business and found much the same information through my search. Let me give you my take on this and try to expand a little on the things you should be looking for when picking a home based business!

Find a product that you like and have an interest in! If you don’t have much interest in what your offering, presenting it could pose some challenges. You will have a slight advantage here being comfortable in presenting this information to others. Your learning curve can also be shortened a great deal.
Once you have found your interest or niche as its referred too, do some investigating. This is very important in picking a home based business that offers you the best chance at success! Start with the owners by doing a search online. Enter their name into the search bar as “Their Name”, this will bring up the most relevant articles on them. What your looking for here is their experience in network marketing. Have they been in network marketing, and were they successful? If they have not been in network marketing how will they teach you to become network marketers?
Compensation Plans, this is what many people look for first. You need a compensation plan that allows a new person to see that quick return on their investment! One question that comes up is, what does it take to reach 10k a month? The average home based business takes about 1,300 associates/customers to reach 10k a month in income. There are companies out there that would take 10,000 people to make 10k a month! Statistics show the average person only recruits 2.7 people into their business so how much recruiting do you want to do?
Policies and Procedures, this is a biggie! Very few people ever look at these. The first thing I look for is the length, the more pages there are the more you need to worry! Companies are betting you will not read the Policies and Procedures, for good reason too! When you have your P&P open on you desk top, search for words like termination, how many times does it come up? Another good question to get an answer to is, is your income from your business truly willable? Many companies require the individual whom you have chosen to receive the income to fill your shoes! Thats right, they must become the producer that you were and continue the growth of your business! Now does that sound like a willable income?
Last and equally important in picking a home based business is training! Will you get the proper training? Those companies who were started by people that have been in Network Marketing will have good training. These people have had success and as a result started their own company! Most companies however do not offer a way to monetize those leads that do not join your business, but thats another discussion! Training should include both online and offline methods.

Getting ranked on the first page of Google used to be a very, very difficult task. Almost impossible for the average online entrepreneur.

BUT… things have changed online in the last few years, and the game is wide open.

Today I want to show you exactly how you can get your self positioned on the first page of Google and the other top search engines.

There’s several different strategies you can use, but they all come down to THREE basic principles.

STEP #1: Keyword Research

It all starts with keyword research. You need to decide which specific keyword phrases you want to compete for. And better yet you want to know if you stand a chance at winning.

This is where the importance of proper keyword research comes in. You will waste a lot of time and effort without the proper research.

STEP #2: Create your CONTENT

You can create articles, blog posts, squidoo lenses, hubpages, or videos. They idea here is to create good, quality content that will get read or watched.

Now you take the list of keyword phrases that you have chosen from your research and create the content around these phrases.

Use the keyword phrase in the title, in the description and n the body of the content. Nothing complicated here folks.

STEP #3: Distribute your CONTENT

Now that you have your content, all you need to do is get it out on to the world wide web. Post your articles in several article directories, create a squidoo lens, a hubpage, on your blogs, or use the content in forums.

With videos distribute them to several video sharing sites and post them on your blogs.
