Blogging has been popular since the internet began. Blog sites were meant for individuals to write anything about any topics that interest them. The blog may be for public or private viewing. A blog can be considered as an online journal. Since blogging is so popular nowadays, an internet study has found out that there are over 70,000 blog sites in the internet and everyday, there are about a million updates that are happening in the internet. Due to the popularity of blog sites, there are now blogging tools that help make blogging easier.
There are popular blogging tools in the internet today and some of these popular blogging tools include Google analytics which provides a free tracking device from Google that lets the blogger monitor the number of visitors per day. And then there is the Akismet which is a plugin which prevents spam on the blog. These two are among the several lists of popular blogging tools to choose from.
Blogging tools are categorized into 4 groups which are the blog toolbox, blog reading tools, blog searching tools and the blog publishing tools.
The blog publishing tools are the platforms that provide the venue for bloggers to blog in. some of the popular choices for this includes WordPress, Blogger and Typepad. The Blogger is Google’s product and is considered as one of the oldest blogging services to exist. WordPress is still new but has gained popularity due to its blog tools and Typepad on the other hand, is the biggest blogging service which makes its members to register first with a small fee before they can subscribe to their services.
For blog reading tools, the popular blogging tools that bloggers use are the Google Reader and My Yahoo which include RSS aggregators that will add aggregated content to the blog. Among the two blogging tools, Google Reader is considered the best because My Yahoo still lacks some features that Google Reader offers to the bloggers.
For blog searching tools, the popular blogging tools that are in this category includes Technorati and Sphere. Both these tools search for information from other blogs who have active topics that are currently discussed.
For the blog toolbox, the popular blogging tools in this category are the tools discussed earlier. The Google Analytics and Akismet are the tools that are popular blog toolboxes. The blog toolboxes are essential for serious bloggers which rely on their blogs to earn money.
