The Transformation Experience
Four Steps in Finding Your Destiny in the Marketplace”
The Marketplace Matthew 5:13-14
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salts have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and trodden under foot of men.
This salt is not for the church but for the earth. If we will only yield ourselves to the Lord and his service, He will see to it that we become the salt that preserves life, the salt that creates a thirst for God, the salt that heals the spiritual wounds of a broken heart. Just as a little salt can go a long way, even few believers can have tremendous impact for good in their sphere of influence. Joshua 23:10
The disciples’ place of ministry is in the earth not behind 4 walls. The world is the marketplace where believers are to have a positive impact for the kingdom of God. Guest what? The world is waiting on us. Romans 8:19
The church is called to be the salt factory and the marketplace is the distribution center for that salt. Too much salt is being stored and locked up in the church. There is not enough salt being distributed into the marketplace. The result is our cities are not being salted or being transformed for the kingdom of God.
The Light
14: Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. 15: Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16: Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. “This light is not for the church, this light is for the world. Ye are the light of the world!” We are all the light the world has. Therefore, the light is to be placed where it was meant to be, in the marketplace. (a dark place)
Note the words spoken by Christ: “Let your light so shine.” The believer can refuse to let his light shine. He can turn it off, refuse to turn it on, turn it down, and turn it away, turn it in the wrong direction. Note the two purposes for letting our light shine. When believers go about the business of being Christians, we cannot help but be noticed. We are like a city that is set on a hill shining out of a dark place, we cannot be overlooked. Believers are to let their light shine before men. God is glorified when believers get out into the darkness where men are. The good works of believers are to be done in dark places, not within walls with other lights.
Four Steps In Finding Your Destiny In The Marketplace
1. Join the system, if you hold a job or own a business you are already in the marketplace. God has a purpose for you to fulfill your destiny in the marketplace. Consequently make peace with your job or business as God’s starting point for you .Speak peace to it , thank God for it. Don’t let the sin around it prevent you from introducing the sweet aroma of grace. Rom. 5:20
2. It doesn’t matter where you find yourself in the marketplace today. What is important is that you embrace your calling to transform that place by using the power God has made available to you. 2 Cor. 4:7
3. Improve the system. Just like the 70 were instructed to heal the sick, we are instructed by the Lord to make things better at work.
4. Bring the kingdom of God to your job or business. It is important to know you are the light of the world; you can bless your job. It is important to remember the kingdom is always expansive and never regressive.
